MALABON TRICYCLE TOUR

Last January, we were invited by the Department of Tourism and the local government of Malabon to explore Malabon City on their Food and Heritage tricycle tour.  Here are a few of the spots you will visit on the tour and what we thought of the whole experience:

SAN BARTOLOME CHURCH

The San Bartolome Church was our first stop on the tricycle tour around Malabon, and my favorite one. We were in awe of the Church's architecture - its grand columns and towering structure left us mesmerized. The Church's interiors were a sight to behold as well, with its chandeliers and gold-adorned ceilings. The Baroque-style architecture of the San Bartolome Church has been well-preserved since its construction in 1564.

SY JUCO HERITAGE HOUSE

The Sy Juco Heritage House has been standing since 1869. Over the years, it has been transformed into a school, a tobacco factory, and now into the residence of Baby Sy Juco.

LUGAW XPERIENCE

Lugaw Xperience

The third stop on our food & heritage tour around Malabon was to a humble roadside eatery for late breakfast. However, don't be fooled by Lugaw Xperience's simple facade, because they serve a mean lugaw! To give you an idea of just how famous and in demand their food is -- their stocks can sometimes run out as early as 10:30am, just 30 minutes after they open!

ANGEL CACNIO'S HOUSE AND ART GALLERY

Angel Cacnios Art Gallery

Both art and history buffs will enjoy this stop in the tour, as it is home to Mr. Angel Cacnio, the award-winning artist behind our 20- and 100-peso bills. See his most famous artworks on display here, including the original designs for the bills. Just in case you get lucky and catch him there on your visit, don't forget to bring a spare bill with you that you can have signed!

THE ORIGINAL DOLOR'S KAKANIN

The Original Dolor's Kakanin

A trip to Malabon wouldn't be complete without sampling some of their finest desserts. Take home some sapin-sapin, puto, kutsinta, and more for all your lovced. These last 3 days in the refrigerator or 24 hours without it, so don't let it go to waste!

WHY TRY THE MALABON TRICYCLE TOUR?

The streets of Malabon City are tight and narrow, with not a lot of parking spaces. So it's best to explore the city on foot or by tricycle. Going on foot isn't ideal given our weather and how far apart the attractions were, which makes these tricycle tours so convenient. It was also great not having to worry about the best routes to take or how to plan out our day, since this was taken care of by our trike driver!

Another plus for us was that the tour price covered all our expenses for that tour. This all-in-one price already included the fee for the trike driver, gas, and even the cost of food.

Not only do these tricycle tours promote Malabon tourism, but they also support the livelihood of its trike drivers. All the profits from the tricycle tours go straight to the tricycle drivers and their families.
